This is my planning for my music video, digi pak and magazine advertisement. These are the final choices I have made before creating everything after doing all of my research.
Story Board
This is the Story board I have designed for my music video. It shows the whole video including the narrative as well as some band performance. While the band performance is going on the camera is going to cut to the narrative of my main character being chased by another figure who is meant to be representing the mainstream. The video ends on the narrative with my main character disappearing into thin air and all that is left of him is his coat. The coat is found by the figure chasing him and fades to black.
- This shot is a steady handheld shot of the lead singer of the notice just relaxing next to his mic and is only fixed on him for a few seconds before the jump cut is made to the next shot.
- In this shot which is only a few seconds long again the drummer is laid back and relaxing at his drum kit laughing at something off camera, its is a fixed shot with no effect and will mix with the other shots of the band relaxing before they play to give a classic Indie rock look to it.
- Again this is going to be a shot of two of the band members sitting on an amp or box relaxing and tuning their instruments before they start to play.
- The final shot of the band relaxing before they play is of the final guitarist and from being a close up mid shot of him it rooms out into just a recular midshot. this is followed by a jump cut straight away.
- There then will be a black and white close up pannign shot of my main character in the narrative moving all the way around him, this again jump cuts to the next shot.
- This will be a longer shot of my main character walking down an alley then to be followed by the other actor who will chase him eventually but just walks after him in this one. It is a black and white shot again and is fixed onto a Tri-Pod for a steady shot.
- The shot then jump cuts back to the entire band in the practive room starting to play, it is a still shot filmed on a tripod and is again only a few second long before it jump cuts to the next shot.
- This shot is a steady shot from the floor of both my characters in a chase shot in the narrative which is again in black and white. It will show a close up of both characters feet as they run past. Again a jump cut will be used to get to the next shot.
- The 9th frame of my story board will be around 20 seconds worth of footage and will jump cut between a close up of one of the guitarists playing his guitar (Band performance/colour shot) and a chase shot in the wood form the narrative (Black and White). This is how the main parts of my video come together.
- This is the first frame of the chorus shots and is lip synced to the lead singer saying "This is a day". It is a steady shot on a fixed Tri-Pod. The drummer will also be picture in the background. The shot will again be a jump cut into the next shot.
- The clip is again the close up chase shot of the actors feet and is only on for a few second in black and white before the jump cut is made to the next shot.
- This is again a set of jump cuts between the narrative and the band performance (black and white/colour) the narrative shots are again of the two actors in a chase down a wooded area on a dirt track while the band performance is focoused on the drummer playing in a wide shot camera angle which will be a steady handheld shot.
- These jump cuts will take place again in the next set but with new footage of the narrative and band performance. In the narrative a wide shot on a fixed Tri-Pod of the chase continues, while this happens it cuts back to the band playing their sepreate instruments with a mixture of mid and close up shots of them all. These jjump cuts will again go on for around 20 seconds.
- The jump cuts between the narrative and band performance continue again. This time the narrative shots are handheld mid shots of the chase from the person chasing my main actos point of view and so is also a point of view shot, it will be in slow motion as the music slows down at this point of the song. The Band performance goes back to the band relaxing and carrying on at the end of the session and will also be in slow motion, the cuts between the two will be slower in relation to the speed of the song.
- This shot will in slow motion and is a fixed shot on the Tri-Pod. My main character will come running around the corner and stop to catch his breath when the character chasing after him will walk around the corner and grab his shoulder. My main character will look around in shock and will make a final jump cut to the last frame.
- In this last frame I will use the camera in my hand. The character who was chasing my main character will grab for my main character again only to find he has disappeared. The camera will then pan down the chaser and come across my main actors jacket left on the floor and will finally fade to black as the song cuts out.
Shotlist/Schedule
The shotlist and schedule help give me a clear understanding of what i'm doing when and where. Using specific dates and times and organising props and cameras I need as well as shooting around the weather I need to make the filming as easy as possible for me.
Shot Plans
These are just some of the shots I intend to use in my music video. They range from close-ups through to long-shots and wide-shots as well as some handheld running shots. Because I am aiming for a simple but effective video the cuts and camera shots are not complicated. This shot plan helps me a great deal when it comes to filming as I have a clear understanding of what needs to be done in the time I have set myself.

Plans of Digi Dack
These are the plans of the digi pack I am creating. The front cover has a photo of the band on but they are pictured as silhouettes. Turning inside the digi pack there is an image of a sign post, coming off the signpost will be the different band members names as well as a dirt track moving away into the distance. On the back cover a dirt track will trail off into the distance and to the left will be the album track names. The dirt tracks in the artwork of the album will represent moving on a journey through-out the album, the track names will also represent being on a journey as they are named so they are going in a certain order.
Plans of Magazine Advert
My magazine advert will draw a close parallel to my digi pack. This will show continuity and give the band a clear genre. It wil also help attract my target audience who will be able to tell straight away that this magazine advert has been designed for my digi pack. I will design a sign post with a dirt track trailing away from both sides. This is just like in my digi pack and so the continuity is apparent straight away. My magazine advert will also include several ratings from existing music companies to add to the authenticityto its look. After looking at existing magazine adverts I feel this is a feature that needs to be carried on.
Risk Assessment
A risk assessment is essential to make sure that while filming, no one is in any form of danger and that is anyone is in a position of danger that filming is conducted in the safest manner possible. I will be filming during October and November, it will be cold and wet. This could be a problem as an element of my music video needs to be filmed outside, it may have rained the night before filming and combined with leaves under foot while I'm shooting a running scene could be dangerous.
