Prelim Experiment
Track name: Little Room by The White Stripes
My prelim experiment helped me gain the skills I need to create a music video. I used a handheld flip camera to film my entire video using a camrea stand and aslo using it in hand. The song my prelim video was created to was "Little Room" by The White tripes which is only 1 minute and 2 seconds long. I thought it would be a good video to use as the length of the song let me creat a short video experimenting with what I can do with a camera. One I had my footage I experimented with different effects and merging clips to get to grips with how to put my prelim video together. Overall I found the experience of creating a music video very exciting and proves to me that putting my footage together can be done with great ease.
I drew my inspiration from several other existing music videos from several different bands. For the shot in which the two figures walk across a zebra crossing I doubled the speed of the clip. After watching 'Salute Your Soloution" by 'The Raconteurs' - in which several frames have been taken out of the shots to create a very static image rather than footage - I felt I could achieve the same effect by speeding the shot up.
It works to an extent, however the two figures don't jump, all of their actions are just sped up. This is down to the technonology I was able to access which wasnt advanced enough to be able to split the different frames.
